About Amani
Amani
represents
the best of both performance skills and academic credentials.
I've watched her develop as a dancer and teacher over the years and she
has become a truly remarkable performer combining attention to technical detail
with riveting presence to deliver show stopping choreographic
pieces. Her repertoire spans a range from Egyptian Danse
Orientale to Persian, Greek and Indian Folkloric dances, among
others. Her training also runs the gamut from Ballet to Egyptian
Danse Orientale to Indian Baratnatyam. Mahmoud Reda and Farida
Fahmy were impressed enough to invite her to be one of ten participants
in their first ever seminar for teachers and professional dancers, held
in Cairo, Egypt in 2006.
She was
nominated twice for favorite oriental/cabaret dancer in Zagareet
Magazine's annual contest.
Her academic credentials include an M.A. in Cultural
Anthropology. She has taught at the University level and has been
the advisor to the Georgia State University Dance Ensemble. She
has performed in Europe and the Middle East and appeared on CNN
International.
Her interests embrace learning and presenting the pure forms of each
dance, as well as developing interesting fusion pieces. I have
asked her to represent Egyptian styling at this workshop. She
will present a drum solo and new combinations drawn from her Cairo
experience.
About
Khush
Khush is the creator of Bollywood Orlando and
the group Bollywood Jewels. Khush grew up in India and moved to
the US at a young age. She has trained in Ballet, Jazz and
Modern dance and in her Junior year she was crowned "Miss Teen Orlando
2003". Khush has also received training in television, commercial
and theatre acting. Khush continues to study classical Indian
dance. She teaches and performs regularly in the Orlando
area.
Khush will teach Bollywood and Bhangra classes. Bollywood is
classical Indian dance with strong influence from Belly Dance and
Hollywood. Bhangra is one of the latest folkloric dances that can
be used for fusion with tribal dancing or for aerobic workout.
Veena and Neena present Bhangra on one of their DVDs.

About Amira Sa'id
Amira
began dancing at the age of 5
with her first number being a cute tap dance called
"Yellow Polka Dot Bikini". Throughout her
childhood, she continued dancing tap, ballet, and
jazz and as a teenager took up Irish step dancing in
which she won several trophies. She stopped dancing
while pursuing her B.S. in physics and a little over
a year after graduation, discovered Middle Eastern
dance. She found this dance to be her ideal medium
and after much study of the dance form and lots of
hard work, she is now dancing professionally in
several venues in Florida including Arabian Nights
Dinner Show Attraction in Orlando and Ali Baba
restaurant in Longwood. She also performs at
functions held by Universal and Disney as well as
numerous private parties. Her name "Amira Sa'id"
means "happy princess" and Amira is happiest when
expressing herself through dance and hopes all her
audiences will share her
joy, dance spirit, and love of life!
Amira has studied
with Gitana de la Luna, Magda min el Gabel,
Karolinka, Zarifa Sa'id, and Kathryn Ferguson, as
well as attended numerous workshops. More recently
she has studied Bollywood with Kush. She performs
Bollywood also at Orlando restaurants and for Indian
weddings and large events.
